’An Inspector Calls’

Last night’s performance of An Inspector Calls at the Bristol Hippodrome was nothing short of brilliant.

The set design was a standout feature, with its stark, almost surreal architecture that perfectly captured the tension and claustrophobia at the heart of the play. The atmospheric lighting and use of rain effects enhanced the mood, immersing the audience in the world of the Birling family’s unraveling secrets.

The character of Sheila, played by Leona Allen was a highlight of the evening. Her transformation from naive young woman to someone with a growing social conscience was portrayed with sensitivity and depth. The emotional journey was incredible, and the actress’s ability to shift between moments of vulnerability and strength was remarkable.

Equally compelling was the Inspector played by Tim Treloar, who brought a humorous yet commanding presence to the stage. His sharp dialogue delivery, combined with an almost eerie calmness, kept the audience on edge. His interactions with the Birling family were filled with a strong intensity, making his moral judgements all the more impactful.

Overall, it was a powerful, thought-provoking production that left the audience reflecting on its themes long into the night. The audience were silent throughout, captivated by every moment.

A truly memorable night at the theatre.
