Come from Away – an edge-of-your-seat story told through the power of song
Wow! A joyously uplifting performance tells through the power of song and word of how a community pulled together in the wake of the September 11 attacks, when approximately 7,000 people are stranded for five days at Gander, a small town in Newfoundland.
Come from Away is an award-winning musical based on actual events and people, with book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. The story unfolds over 140 spellbinding minutes of a community rallying together, finding provisions and shelter for the stranded, and welcoming them into their tight-knit community.
Meet American Airlines’ first female pilot, the mother of a firefighter, a love story unfold, an inspirational town major, a rookie news reporter – and many other characters based on real people.
There are moments of sadness, of fear, woven in through the story telling, moments of hope and joy, and brilliantly crafted moments of humour throughout.
A magical must-see show with brilliant casting, ingenious staging and musicality. The whole theatre jumped to their feet in unison for a well-deserved standing ovation at the end of the performance!
