Local author and science writer Alex Morss gave a plea to local dog owners to look out for hedgehogs waking from hibernation.
Yesterday a second injured hedgehog was found in Victoria Park. It has similar injuries to the one rescued the previous day and looked like a dog attack rather than a fox, badger or other animal attack.
Luckily it was found and it made its way to the kind volunteers at Hedgehog Rescue.
Alex asked that we ‘Be vigilant if you are dog owner, especially if taking dogs to the park in the evenings.
Hungry hedgehogs are coming out of hibernation now nights are milder. They may be in distress if underweight, poisoned, trapped or dehydrated. If you spot one out in the day time they will need urgent expert help & possibly medical attention’
Here’s what to do if you find one
