SWIM, RUN, OR CYCLE – THE JUBILEEATHON IS BACK FOR 2026 WITH A DIFFERENCE

Bristol’s swimmers, runners and cyclists are being urged to sign up to the Jubileeathon – a huge 24-hour fundraising event – to raise vital funds for the much-loved Jubilee Pool in Knowle.

This year it’s a head-to-head race between Team Water (swimmers) and Team Land (runners and cyclists) to cover as many miles as possible between 1pm on Saturday 10th October and at 1pm on Sunday 11th October 2026.

And while swimming, running and cycling slots can be booked online to join in the fun at the Pool, there’s also the option to join virtually by completing the miles outside of the pool. (Just bring proof of your efforts to the pool for verification and to get your certificate).

Lord Mayor Councillor Yassin Mohamud is set to start the challenge by firing the starting horn sending the first swimmers, runners and cyclists on the way at 1pm on Saturday.

Julie Laming, Chair of Trustees at Jubilee Pool, said: “This year the Jubileeathon is bigger, bolder and more inclusive than ever – a chance for everyone to get involved, whether your strength is in the water or on dry land. And you don’t even have to come to the pool if it’s easier to take part somewhere else.

“Jubilee Pool is a valuable part of our community and we want as many people as possible to join in to keep our pool afloat.”

There will also be entertainment across the weekend with a food truck selling hot dogs, pulled pork and pulled mushrooms on Saturday and local choirs on Saturday afternoon and at the finish on Sunday.

Julie continued: “There’s such a great atmosphere at the pool at this event and we are delighted to involve the gym this year, to target groups like the naked swimmers and include those who’d like to run and cycle outside.

“We are really hoping to raise some valuable funds for the pool – times are tight but it’s a community effort – if we can sell all our tickets this would make a big difference. Any additional sponsorship would be a much-appreciated added bonus.”

Virtual participants can bring along a record of their distance to the pool on Sunday or send a screenshot to rachel_heaton@fojp.co.uk  for their distance to be recorded.

Julie concluded: “Jubilee Pool remains a vital community hub offering swimming lessons for children and adults, sessions for people with disabilities, learning and sensory needs, health and wellbeing classes, aqua discos, inflatable sessions and parties. We need your support to ensure it is affordable, inclusive and accessible to all for years to come.

“Whether you’re an experienced swimmer, cyclist or runner or you just love to paddle and amble along, all abilities are invited to join us and support a fantastic cause.”

This year funds raised will be going towards the major fundraising project to replace the main roof with scope for solar panels. This is costly and top of the list.  The reception area and changing rooms also need improving plus there are always ongoing jobs and maintenance that need investment.

How to Take Part

Individuals, families, teams, sports clubs and businesses can sign up via the Jubileeathon Event Page at https://events.humanitix.com/jubileeathon-2026 .

To join in the Jubileeathon, either at the pool or virtually, entry costs are £10 per person. Each booking at the pool secures an hour slot.

Participants are encouraged to raise additional sponsorship to help raise as much as possible for this community pool.
