Les Miserablés

What a show!

Last night’s performance of Les Misérables at the Bristol Hippodrome was simply breathtaking. From the very first note, the cast delivered a powerful and deeply moving interpretation of this iconic musical.

Jean Valjean’s voice soared with emotion and strength, carrying every ounce of the character’s pain and hope, while Javert’s rich, commanding vocals brought an intense presence to the stage. Their scenes together were electric, brimming with dramatic tension.

That said, every member of the cast shone — the voices across the ensemble were strong, despite some microphone mishaps, with costumes, props and beautiful scenery, each adding depth and colour to the storytelling.

The production’s clever use of effects to create atmospheric images on the plain backdrops was inspired, adding a striking visual element that perfectly complemented the music and drama.

The seamless transitions between scenes kept the pace alive, while still allowing the emotion to resonate throughout the theatre.

An unforgettable evening of theatre — powerful, visually stunning, and filled with performances that will linger in the memory long after the final bow.

You must see this – never has a standing ovation been so well deserved.

Tip to audience members – please save your hysterical whoops and cheers for the curtain call, after every number, somewhat drags the audience members back to Bristol – rather than alongside the characters in France.

At the Bristol Hippodrome until Saturday 16th August
