Bristol’s S&B Academy hosts 13th IRTE Bus and Coach Skills Challenge

S&B Automotive Academy in Bedminster are hosting the Institute of Road Transport Engineers’ (IRTE) Skills Challenge, a yearly event where people in the automotive industry come from all across the nation to compete to show off their skills. 

From the 2nd-6th June 2025, S&B Automotive Academy in Bristol will host a multitude of apprentices, technicians and engineers from the heavy vehicle sector, with this year breaking the record for amount of entrants for the IRTE Skills Challenge. 

Having previously hosted the challenge, S&B Academy are once again opening their doors for the competition, which will have an awards ceremony in July for the winners. 

For the people competing, this can be a great opportunity to meet others in the industry and gain experience. Mackenzie Hall, an apprentice with First Bus commented to SOE: “Being part of this challenge makes you feel noticed—it’s something I’ll be proud to include on my CV.”

S&B Academy is based in Bedminster, Bristol, and is a training provider for a number of courses and apprenticeships in the automotive and business sectors. They have been operating for over 50 years and have won a number of awards.
